Subject COWON’s ‘iAUDIO 10’ Wins Japan’s Good Design Award Date 2011.10.11
COWON’s ‘iAUDIO 10’, released last month, has won the 2011 Good Design Award presented by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (“JDP”).

This 55th annual design awards is one of the four top-class design contests from around the globe, including RedDot and iF in Germany and the International Design Excellence Awards (“IDEA”) in the United States.

This year, 3,162 products put on heated competition in 41 categories, and COWON stood shoulder to shoulder with global enterprises from Japan such as Sony, Canon and Panasonic, as its ‘iAUDIO 10’ won the top award in the ‘Audiovisual Device’ category which included TVs, cameras and sound systems.

A product with an all-new color-therapy UI and whose design maximizes the beauty of curves, ‘iAUDIO 10’ received excellent reviews in that its streamlined design enhanced the grip and added to the ease of control, improving consumer convenience.

“It has a beautiful curve on its backside, and its design is such that the consumer understands the meaning of such curves once the device is held in the hand,” praised Chiaki Kimura of the panel of jurors responsible for evaluating ‘iAUDIO 10’. “Aside from the curve, all other unnecessary elements have been removed, achieving the ideal of consistent design.”

COWON’s S9 won the iF Design Award in 2009, followed by four products – including J3 and V5 – wining the 2010 RedDot Design Awards. With this year’s Good Design Award in Japan, COWON’s excellence in design has once again received international recognition.

Furthermore, with its products selected as top products on Japan’s largest price comparison website, Kakaku.com (www.kakaku.com), in the MP3 player and PMP categories, this year’s design award has provided COWON the beachhead for more aggressive marketing strategies in the Japanese market.

“With this award, COWON’s excellence in product design and UI has once again received international recognition,” said Nam-Kyu Park, the CEO of COWON. “We will strengthen the image of our brand in the international market even more by continuing to introduce new products that set themselves apart in their design and satisfies the sensibility of the consumer.”
