Subject COWON Black Box “Recognized Overseas” Date 2012.10.18
With consumer concerns over the overcrowd of products in the domestic Black Box market growing bigger, Korean Black Boxes are getting attention overseas, too, in recognition of their competitiveness.

The HD Black Box of COWON, “Auto Capsule AC1 (hereinafter ‘AC1’)” received excellent evaluations by the major US IT medium, Cnet.

Cnet reviewed “the shiny/matte black color combination is attractive” about AC1, and highly evaluated the simple design that consists of just one button and color LED to show the status. It received high points for the simple control method and shock-detection automatic recording method, too.

COWON has received good evaluations not only in Korea but overseas, too, even before the Cnet Black Box review, for its many other products that have superior quality and design, such as its MP3s and PMPs.

AC1 recorded sales of around 40,000 products just in the first half of this year after its release, based on the IT brand power of COWON. In August, COWON launched the Auto Capsule AD1, which has a 2-channel function that can shoot the rear, and is doing well in the Black Box market.

COWON is currently actively targeting overseas markets including the Americas and Asia, and plans to continuously increase the weight of overseas sales.

CEO Nam-Kyu Park of COWON said, “The Black Box is a video recording device, and COWON is technologically advanced in this field as we specialize in video devices such as PMPs,” and revealed, “We will continue to present reliable products with differentiated designs based on our expert technology in the digital video field, and establish a new standard for the Black Box market.”

Meanwhile, AC1 won the grand prize for the new products category at the 2012 Global Marketing Awards of Japan Management Association, in March.
