JetAudio that recorded a successful sales performance in the Japanese package software market in 1999 is being sold as a bundle for all types of PCs made by NEC that is the biggest PC manufacturer with market share of 25% in the Japanese PC market next to Fujitsu.

NEC has rolled out a new series of PC models that accomplished a high sound quality with six built-in speakers, and LaVie S was selected as the leading product and posted brisk sales. Its selling point further strengthened as it adopted JetAudio armed with excellent functions that include MP3 file play and digital recording function for MD and DAT.

Considering the success in Japan, COWON expects JetAudio to secure about 3.5 million user per year there. COWON pulled off the bundling agreement with NEC in early 2000, following a similar deal with Fujitsu in late 1999. Now, COWON expects to get 5 million won per year as a license fee from Japan through the bundling contracts.
