January 4, 2005, Seoul – Cowon Systems (CEO Park Nam Gyu, www.cowon.com) announced that at the 2005 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) to be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 6th, it would set up its own booth separately from the Korea Pavilion, and display a new portable multimedia player (PMP) as well as a digital multimedia product line-up that consists of four hard disk-type and three flash-type products.

The new PMP “Cowon A2” will be opened to the public for the first time at the exhibition and has the most advanced design and features among PMP products released in and out of Korea. The Cowon A2 is equipped with stereo speakers and a 16:9 wide vision 4-inch TFT LCD that is the same aspect ratio as that of DVD’s. It is a genuine portable multimedia device that can play various video formats such as XviD and WMV, audio formats such as MP3, OGG, and WMA, and photo image formats such as JPEG and BMP. In particular, the Cowon A2 has a direct recording feature that allows real-time recording by connecting to a TV like a normal video recorder, and users can conveniently watch saved video files on a large TV screen by connecting to an external TV anytime, anywhere.

Other major new releases on display include the iAUDIO X5, a next-generation HDD-type MP3 player featuring a 1.8 inch, 260,000 color LCD, and iAUDIO M5L, a super-light, ultra-compact HDD-type MP3 player. iAUDIO X5, a state-of-the-art HDD-type MP3 player can not only play music, but various images and videos as well without a PC by directly connecting to a digital camera using its OTG (On-The-Go) feature. iAUDIO M5L is a HDD-type MP3 player that features 36 hours of continuous playback time, probably the longest of its kind in the world.

In addition, flash-type MP3 players such as the iAUDIO U2, an ultra-compact, fashionable MP3 player, the iAUDIO G3 with up to 50 hours of playback time, and the iAUDIO 5 featuring 1,000-color backlight visualizations will be exhibited.

CEO Park Nam Gyu said, “The portable multimedia player (PMP) market will begin in earnest this year in and out of Korea, and with this exhibition as a start, we will actively carry out marketing and brand-building activities overseas as well as in domestic markets with our cutting-edge products.”

All the new products displayed in the 2005 International CES will be available at retail outlets within the first quarter of this year.
