Subject COWON Releases 'COWON DM1' - First Terrestrial Broadcast DMB Receiver for PMP in Korea Date 2006.02.02
COWON SYSTEMS (CEO: Park Nam-Gyu, www.cowon.com) announced that it would release COWON DM1 on February 16, 2006, a digital multimedia broadcast (DMB) receiver for terrestrial broadcasts that allows users to watch TV broadcasts by connecting to their COWON A2 PMP.

COWON DM1 is closely connected to a USB host, and its ultra power-saving circuit allows up to 8 hours of continuous operation without any battery by using the COWON A2 power supply. This is the longest operation capacity of its kind.

Equipped with a rod-type antenna that extends out during use, COWON DM1 boasts optimum reception even in areas with a weak signal. Unlike other products that create video signals in the receiver and send them to the player, COWON DM1 directly receives signals and plays video, enabling stable viewing of TV broadcasts without degrading image quality or distortions.

COWON DM1 can receive terrestrial DMB TV and radio channels from six stations: KBS, MBC, SBS, YTN, One To One, and U1. It is designed to allow recording video and audio while watching TV or listening to the radio.
COWON DM1 also supports DLS text information services that display music titles and traffic information while playing DMB radio. Sound quality is vivid and realistic thanks to BBE High Definition Sound technology.

COWON DM1 can be purchased as a package that comes together with COWON A2 or separately. COWON A2 users can enjoy DMB simply by buying this receiver and upgrading their firmware.

Park Nam-Gyu, CEO of Cowon Systems said, 'We expect to preoccupy the terrestrial broadcast DMB-type PMP market with the release of COWON DM1. And we will lead the PMP market by adding more diverse features to COWON DM1 like satellite-navigation systems in addition to DMB.
