Multimedia Software `JetAudio'

JetAudio, the multimedia player software of COWON SYSTEMS, Inc. (CEO: Park Nam-gyu, http://www.cowon.com), has proved to be more popular abroad in comparison to success in the domestic market.

After only a few months of its release, last July of 1997, it obtained the highest grade by ZDNet and Cnet, and TUCOWS, worldwide software evaluation institutions, and also advanced to the Japanese market in 1998.

In 1999, JetAudio released an English version and attracted favorable reports by the U.S. press, and in December of the same year, ZDNet selected Cowon's software as one of the world's 50 most popular programs in the United States. In 2000, it was bundled with all the PC models manufactured by IBM Japan, Fujitsu, and NEC. The company established a U.S. subsidiary in September of 2000. JetAudio testifies to the fact that COWON is nurturing a global brand in the software package market.

JetAudio received favorable reviews in the domestic market as well. It was nominated as the best software title in Korea in December 1999, and was selected as the World's Top Class Product in the multimedia software field by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in November 2001.

JetAudio gained popularity on major Internet sites and through online downloads, demonstrating its brand marketing power and sales potential at the same time. The U.S. subsidiary promotes online download-based sales in partnership with Digital River. Taking into consideration that the brand recognition is essential to online sales, COWON's achievements in global brand marketing are quite noticeable.

COWON SYSTEMS, in its earlier days, attracted attention with its two-top system, which has the characteristic of changing presidents every few years. At present, the CEO of the U.S. subsidiary, Jung Jae-wook is in charge of development and Park Nam-gyu, CEO based in Korea, handles domestic marketing. This was the origin of CEO branding, which has recently attracted much attention.

COWON is full of dreams of designing another legend out of a soon-to-be-released JetAudio 5.0 English Version, integrating many new functions, including a DVD player. It is scheduled to be released in February, while a worldwide version is slated for May.
